Postnatal Care

Postnatal care is provided wherever you choose to have your baby. If your baby is born in hospital, they prefer all baby’s to have been examined before transfer home. This examination can be undertaken between 6 and 72 hours following birth. We encourage and support breast feeding as the preferred method of feeding your baby. Your postnatal care transfers to the community midwife following transfer home.

Your GP will normally see you at about six weeks post-delivery to discuss any concerns, answer any questions you may have and discuss matters such as contraception.
